    Who/What inspires you:
    music, good literature

Song: “Just Impolite” by Plushgun (http://www.myspace.com/plushgun)
    How you found/heard this:
One of my favorite webseries, “We Need Girlfriends” (http://www.myspace.com/we_need_girlfriends, currently on a break) used this song in an episode. A month later, I found the song on a “Relix” magazine CD sampler.
    Why you love this song:

I like the song because it really fit with what was happening in the
webseries. It helped me see what the character was thinking.
What this song means to you:

I think the song is about feeling lonely and confused, so it is easy to
relate to. We’ve all felt left out and maybe seek relationships in the
wrong places. Can we tell ourselves the truth, even when the truth is
    unpleasant?
    Favorite line(s) and why:

    “Are you frightened, by perfection?
Is this who you are, not who you want to be?
I walk the line like Johnny Cash
I made the bus in seconds flat
I called your line too many times
    I’m not obsessed, just impolite.”

  • Sara Bareilles – Gravity :: Reader Recommendation.

    sb

I remember seeing Sara Bareilles (pronounced “buh-RELL-is) open for Aqualung a solid year ago. I came away unimpressed and never thought of her again. About half a year later, her hit single “Love Song” exploded and now SB is a formidable member of our pop musical landscape.

Back in December, MTWY reader JP sent along this song which I had no interest in posting. But after combing back through my e-mails and appreciating the transcendence of MTWY Nation, I’ve decided to post this song without even listening to it.  In the words of JP, “The song is called gravity, and I dare you not to get goosebumps listening to this.”

*update. mtwy is now twittering. (see right hand column for updates.)
we also have two ad banners stealthily implanted throughout said right hand column. if you feel the urge to click on them, by all means.=]

  • Kanye West x Chris Martin x Chicago x The Bean.

Kanye West recently released the music video for “Homecoming” featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay and Gwyneth Paltrow fame. The video, shot by famed director Hype Williams, showcases many famous Chicago landmarks such as The Bean. Chicago is beautiful. Enjoy.

  • MTWY Presents: Guess Who?

The song will be very familiar to you all and I suspect the same will apply to the artist.

*Clarification: The “Who” in “Guess Who” refers to the artist actually performing the song. Points will not be given to those who name the song.

I can’t be sure that this state of mind

Is not of my own design

I wish there was an over-the-counter test for loneliness

    For loneliness like this

    Friends – check

    Money – check

    Well-slept – check

    Opposite sex – check

    Guitar – check

    Microphone – check

Messages waiting on me when I come home – check

How come everything I think I need

    Always comes with batteries?

What do you think it means?

    How come everything I think I need…
