  • Aqualung – Arrivals / New Album: Words and Music.

    credit

Matt Hales (of Aqualung fame) is back with a new album; a solo project if you will. Words and Music is a raw and pensive peak inside the mind of a musical prodigy; a man who wrote his first symphony at the age of 17. This collection of songs will feel very much like a journey home of sorts, for both you, the listener, and him, the composer. On the album sleeve, Matt writes: “I sang the songs and played the piano, the organ, the glockenspiel, clapped my hands and made ghostly choral noises. Also the airplane.”

As you will soon discover, Arrivals is the perfect denouement for an album that is as reflective as it is uplifting. It has the eery feel of an artist who deep down knows he’s already reached the pinnacle of his musical career and is now doing things on his own terms. You can purchase the album here.

    It has started
Can’t be stopped, called the fairy mantle, cast me up
Send me, send me, over the ocean I’ll find you
Not the radio, not today, there is nothing left
You can say, just get me, get me, over the ocean
    I’ll find you

Close your eyes baby, close your eyes sunshine
Wait for one more sunrise, then I’m on, I’m on

Feel the rumbling through the chair
Feel the future in, in the end
Fly me, fly me, over the ocean I’ll see you
And we’re hurrying, and we wait, now we’re tumbling
To the gate, send me clearly, over the ocean to find you

Just this one last sunrise and
    I’m home.
