  • Something’s Missing

This entry is dedicated to John Mayer who recently posted a heartfelt message from Japan on his blog. What are your thoughts?

    —–

I can’t be sure that this state of mind

Is not of my own design

I wish there was an over-the-counter test for loneliness

    For loneliness like this

    Friends – check

    Money – check

    Well-slept – check

    Opposite sex – check

    Guitar – check

    Microphone – check

Messages waiting on me when I come home – check

How come everything I think I need

    Always comes with batteries?

What do you think it means?

    How come everything I think I need…

  • I really do have to thank you. For recognizing JM.
He truly is an amazing person. Not just for his music but for his realness.
I just got done reading his blog before I logged into xanga and I was speechless.
You can’t help but agree with him. He says everything so perfectly.

By the way, Something’s Missing is an amazing song.
I could sit here and name off so many songs from him but I think you’re pretty aware of them.
Sometimes I don’t think JM gets as much respect as he deserves.
    Again, thank you.

  • Oh, wow. That was just beautiful. So sincere and genuine, it almost made me cry, actually. :3

  • I’m not sure I can take life advice from a guy who suddenly found himself amongst the celebrity rubble after a 3 week trip in Japan.  I hope everyone realizes that life lessons come from LIFE and those who have experienced its depth and breadth.  Live it, make mistakes, and as for being self conscious, screaming your defense mechanisms to the world doesn’t make them dissolve in a blog post.

Something is Missing works because everyone understands that it applies to both John and us. The message was poignant and enduring. That blog applied to John in a certain state of mind and as far as I’m concerned is a fleeting change of heart, not a revelation.  Come on John Mayer, stick to changing lives through the musical talents you have been blessed with.

  • Good lyrics. Very interesting.  :)

  • Ahhh… My other boyfriend.
